Exterior

Situated in an idyllic valley, the property is isolated and bordered by an ancient oak forest and the River Auvignon (care must be taken with small children as the banks are very steep). It is surrounded by 12 hectares of woodland and fields. A country lane runs at the bottom of the property; it is used by a local farmer and walkers.

The swimming pool is located 50m above the house up a steep set of wide stone steps, and enjoys splendid views of the Auvignon Valley. The tennis court can be floodlit.

Interior

The interior has been decorated and furnished to a high standard. The living/dining room and the kitchen both open onto a beautiful stone-tiled terrace; also on the ground floor are a bedroom with 3 single beds (90cm), a double bedroom (160cm bed) and a bathroom with a wc. The sitting room is located on an attractive mezzanine overlooking the dining area. The other bedrooms (2 doubles with 160cm beds and 1 double with a 140cm bed and a 90cm bed) and a shower room with a wc are on the first floor. The house accommodates two families very well; there are two sets of bedrooms, each with an adjacent bathroom or shower room, at different ends of the house.

Occupancy is limited to 10 persons.

This floor plan was prepared in good faith and may not be exactly to scale.

Although perhaps less picture-postcard pretty than the Dordogne, the Lot-et-Garonne has a particular charm of its own. One of the smallest départements in France, it nevertheless has plenty of interesting places to visit, including the most bastide towns, scattered throughout the very pleasant, mostly agricultural landscape. Monflanquin, Villeréal, and the château at Duras give testimony to battles fought long ago. Villeneuve-sur-Lot is a pleasant riverside bastide town with an attractive old quarter, and nearby 13th century Penne d’Agenais with narrow alleys winding up to the top of a hill where a more modern basilica perches, Peyragude, a small-scale version of Sacré Coeur. Another fortified village, Vianne, has become a famous centre for fine crystal glassworks, and is known for its vibrant Friday marché nocturne. Agen, on the Garonne, boasts the best art museum in the area with several paintings by Goya. For a hopefully leisurely day’s outing, you can hire a small boat to cruise down the River Baïse, starting at Nérac, Henri IV’s youthful residence, which also has a fine market.

Mr Stephen Adamson (2014)

So nice to arrive somewhere and it's as good if not better than expected. Having our own flood lit tennis court was amazing. Really lovely week.

Ms Helen Stevenson (2012)

The villa was extremely well equipped, beautifully decorated, and in an idyllic location which we would not hesitate to recommend.

Mrs Jill Martin (2011)

Wonderful property - great for large family sharing. As 4 couples we could have done with an extra or separate toilet - especially up at the pool.

Mr Andrew Clark (2011)

Home from home. Really friendly and professional greeting by caretaker. Very well equipped kitchen. Excellent furniture for holiday use - i.e. nothing too precious.

Mr Richard Guy Short (2010)

Excellent pool, tennis court. Hospitality shown by owners via caretaker excellent and house was very good.

Dr Mark Goodfield (2010)

Beautifully restored, tranquil and scenic location, very tasteful and quality fittings. Caretaker was obliging (came on Sunday due to our late arrival). Well-equipped and very clean.

Mr Nigel Howard (2009)

It was beautiful, lots of land and every detail had been considered eg. DVDs, toys, bikes, we didn't want for anything! Absolutely perfect.

Lady Jane Deverell (2008)

The house (Mouret) exceeded expectations. We all loved it and would re-book definitely, in the future.

Charlie, Anna, Rosie and Tom Scott

A very happy relaxing week in your beautiful Mouret. You have thought of everything to make a great holiday venue. With lots of rain this week we were still very happy with lots of tennis and very comfy sofas inside. Beds wonderful too. Also to come to such a beautifully clean house was very welcoming after our journey. Can't wait to come back again.

Brian and Harriet Pillman

Gorgeous place in every way - even without the sun there was plenty to do and it was the most perfect place to unwind and re-charge the batteries (Harry's mobile phone now in water pump in well!! - Just couldn't get it out!!). A fabulously relaxing week in a great house in idyllic surroundings - we loved it and really appreciated all the lovely details you have maintained in restoring the house - Thank you.

Emma Scott

WOW! What an incredible place. The most idyllic location and beautiful house, I wish I lived here! A fantastic place to chill out after a long road trip round the Pyrenees. Loved the hammocks and the swing and picking flowers in the meadows. I hope to come back one day ....

Emma Bell

An amazing house with everything you could ask for on holiday! The pool was "refreshing", but made me swim my lengths faster. Loved riding the bikes through the fields of sunflowers - thought we might look like extras from "Jean de Florette" ...?! Can't wait to come again - for longer this time.

Mr Anthony Jones

Fantastic well-equipped house with lovely pool and excellent tennis court - we also made full use of the 3 bikes.

Mr Charles Scott

A beautifully renovated/furnished property in very rural, quiet setting. Very comfortable and immaculately clean. Tennis court and pool much enjoyed by all. We will be back!

Mrs Sarah Gooding

A beautiful, welcoming villa in a secluded location, ideal for 2 families. The tennis court and pool are stunning, the beds so comfortable we have all come home and ordered new ones! Our 7 children (2 families) had the time of their lives and can't wait to go back.

Mrs Jennifer Barr

The property exceeded our expectations as the brochure photos couldn't convey how well the property has been restored and maintained plus the extras provided by the owners.

Mrs V. Hynes

Frank (the caretaker) was excellent and attentive.

Mr G. Vestey

The house was very cool and very clean. We loved the pool and bbq area. Lots of cutlery/cookery/kitchenware. Great bathrooms/laundry.

Mrs Lambe

Accommodation exceeded our expectations.

Cohen family

Really charming house, cool and shaded even in blistering heat. Child friendly. Gorgeous pool.

Mr A. Richomme

It was excellent.
