This one-hundred-year old Charentais-style stone house is located in a hamlet 2km from the historic Renaissance town of Fontenay-le-Comte in southern Vendée. Fontenay-le-Comte is a lively town with a good selection of shops, an all-day Saturday market, tennis courts, good restaurants and cafés, and horse riding.

The labyrinth of canals and waterways of the Marais Poitevin where you can hire leisure boats for an hour or a day is 12km away. The area is very rich in wildlife, and lovely walks can be taken in the forest of Mervent (11km) where bikes can be hired. Coulonges and Vouvant are well worth exploring, and there are abbeys and charming villages nearby. There is leisure lake for swimming at Chassenon-le-Bourg (6.5km), an 18 hole golf course at Niort (32km), and many beautiful sandy beaches along the coast with the closest in La Rochelle (55km), La Faute-sur-Mer (69km) and La Tranche-sur-Mer (80km).

The pool benefits from a solar heating system which helps raise and maintain the temperature of the water by a few degrees, weather permitting.

The interior has been restored and furnished to a high standard with comfortable and attractive furniture, combining a mixture of styles. A welcoming entrance leads you on the right to a living room, and on the left to a well-equipped kitchen and to a dining room. All the bedrooms are very well appointed and located on the first floor. There is a double bedroom with a four-poster bed, a single bed and an en suite shower room with a wc; a bedroom with three single beds; a shower room with a wc; and two double bedrooms, one with an adjacent bathroom with a separate shower and wc and the other with an adjacent shower room with a wc.
