Location

This beautiful 18th century property enjoys a wonderful location just 6.5km from the attractive town of Pau (airport, castle, good shopping and restaurants, daily covered market) and 4.5km from the wine-growing village of Jurançon (both dessert and dry wines are delicious and of high quality). There is a sought-after restaurant in Jurançon (2 Michelin stars, booking essential), as well as all shops and services, and a supermarket. The pilgrimage site of Lourdes with its world-famous grotto and basilica is 59km away; in 2008 Lourdes is celebrating the 150th anniversary of Ste-Bernadette's first vision.

There are tennis courts in Jurançon, bike hire in Pau, and an 18 hole golf course in Billère (7km), horse riding in Gelos (6km) and leisure lakes in Larouin (6.5km), Uzein (22km) and Castet (28km). Kayaking and rafting are possible in the spectacular Gave de Pau at St-Pé-de-Bigorre, Nay and Baudreix (all about 30 minutes' drive), and fishing in the fortified town of Navarrenx (54km). The Tour de France passes through Pau in the summer and there is very good skiing in Gourette (53km). The beautiful sandy beaches of the delightful towns of Biarritz and St-Jean-de-Luz on the Atlantic coast are about 120km away.

Exterior

A beautiful drive lined with centenary trees leads you to two buildings (one is the Manor House with its integrated Apartment; the other the Winery) between which (15 metres) you first catch the extraordinary views of the entire chain of the Pyrénées Atlantiques. Immediately in front of the houses are sloping Jurançon vineyards which are part of the property. The grounds cover 12 acres of which 3 are landscaped. The swimming pool benefits from a solar heating system which helps raise and maintain the temperature of the water by a few degrees, weather permitting.

Interior

The interior has been renovated to a high standard with quality finishes throughout and very comfortable furnishings. All the rooms are spacious, attractively decorated and most enjoy the spectacular views.

The Manor House offers two large living areas on the ground floor, as well as a separate dining room, a study, a very well-equipped modern kitchen, and a separate wc. All the bedrooms and bathrooms are on the first floor, off a large landing and wide corridor. There are three double bedrooms, one with an en suite bathroom with a separate shower and a wc, one with an en suite bathroom with a wc, and the third sharing a bathroom with a separate shower and a wc with a single bedroom. Also on this floor are a sitting/TV room with a double sofabed and a shower room with a wc.

The Apartment is integrated in the Manor House with access via the Manor House's hallway. It is set on two floors: a living room, a kitchen with a dining area, and a separate wc on the ground floor; a double bedroom, a mezzanine with two single beds (open but private), and a shower room with a wc on the first floor.

The Winery, situated in a separate building, is self-contained. On the ground floor is a living room which opens out onto the pool terrace, and a kitchen with a dining area; on the first floor are a double bedroom, a very large bedroom with a double bed and two single beds, and two shower rooms with a wc (both en suite).
