Location

This property consists of a substantial private villa in its own grounds of 3 acres, in a countryside and woodland setting just 2km from the centre of the village of Venelles (all shops and services, supermarket, Saturday market, horse riding, tennis courts). It is conveniently located 10km north of Aix-en-Provence, a very attractive town with a daily food market, a general market on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays (clothes, flowers, antiques), and an antique book market on the first Sunday of each month.

There is a leisure lake for swimming at the Lac de Peyrolles (12km) with pedaloes, table tennis and beach volley ball. There are a 9 hole golf course close to Aix and an 18 hole course 16km away at Les Milles. Many lovely walks can be taken around the Montagne Sainte-Victoire, made famous by Cézanne. There are beautiful beaches all along the Mediterranean coast with the closest in Marseille (42km), Carry-le-Rouet (51km), Sausset-les-Pins (56km), La Couronne (59km), Cassis (63km) and La Ciotat (65km).

The peaks of the La Croix de Provence (altitude 946m) command fantastic views and are reached 17km from the villa via a famous path, the "sentier des Venturiers" between Aix and Vauvenargues. The Pic des Mouches (altitude 1011m) and La Chapelle de St-Ser offer some of the most beautiful panoramas of Provence (both 37km away).

Exterior

Automatic gates open onto a 50m driveway through the front garden area to the main house. There is parking for several vehicles. To the south of and above the villa, the swimming pool is reached by a set of steps and has a sunbathing patio. The grounds are very attractive and are partly laid to lawn with many trees creating a very pleasant atmosphere. There is a small pond on the grounds.

Interior

The villa is very bright and comfortable, and is beautifully furnished with attractive antique furniture. The front door opens onto a small hallway and then onto a large split-level living room area with a fireplace. An arch and three steps lead to a dining room from where double french doors open onto a west-facing terrace. The dining room also leads to a well-equipped kitchen with french doors opening onto an east-facing covered terrace. Also on the ground floor are three double bedrooms and a shower room with a wc.

On the first floor are a spacious sitting room with a fireplace, a master bedroom with a balcony and an en suite bathroom with a wc, and a further two double bedrooms, a twin bedroom, a bathroom with a wc and a shower room. Occupancy is limited to 12 persons.
