Location

In an ideal location between two lovely provençal villages (Ménerbes and Oppède both at 2km) this charming 18th century Mas (an old "Magnanerie" - a silk-worm farm) is at the heart of the Regional Park of the Luberon in the Luberon Valley between the Mountain of the Luberon and Mont Ventoux (visible from the grounds). Many walks can be taken from the property without taking a car, as far up as 1000m.

Within 20km of the property are all the famous villages of the Luberon - Gordes (11km), Coustellet (6km), Roussillon (22km), Ménerbes (2km), Oppède-le-Vieux (2km - 20 minutes by foot), Goult (12km), Lacoste (8km - visit the Château of the Marquis de Sade). There are many festivals and fêtes in these villages throughout the summer. The local markets are famous - antique market at Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (16km), huge provençal market at Lourmarin (26km). The charming market town of Cavaillon is 13km away (all shops, supermarkets, twice-weekly market) and Avignon is close by (36km).

There are basic shops in the villages nearby, a tennis court in Oppède, bike hire in Coustellet and horse riding near Lagnes (11km). There is an 18 hole golf course 15km away at Saumane, and a leisure lake (swimming, sailing) at Apt (21km). There are beautiful beaches all along the Mediterranean coast with the closest in Marseille and Carry-le-Rouet (both 91km), Sausset-les-Pins (96km) and La Couronne (100km).

Exterior

The property is set in 7500sqm of grounds in peaceful surroundings with lovely open views of the surrounding countryside towards Gordes and the Luberon mountains. At the front of the house is a pergola with a spacious terrace ideal for al fresco dining opening onto an extensive lawned area featuring the swimming pool. There is also a covered summer kitchen with a barbecue area and a large table.

Interior

The interior offers a striking contrast of styles and is decorated simply and with much taste. On the ground floor is a very modern well-equipped kitchen opening onto a large dining area with access to the terrace, a spacious living room (also reached via an interior courtyard) and a separate wc.

On the first floor are a large TV room (also accessible via an external staircase and opening onto a verandah), two double bedrooms, one with an en suite shower room with a wc, and a shower room. On the second floor are a bedroom with a double four-poster bed and a single bed, a double bedroom with a terrace, a twin bedroom, a bathroom with a separate shower, and a separate wc.
