Location

Automatic gates and a long driveway lead to this early 18th century farmhouse which has been beautifully restored to a high standard. There are basic shops as well as a tennis court at La Cambe (2km). The pretty villages of Trévières (13km - horse riding) and Isigny-sur-Mer (9.5km) have a large selection of shops.

The property enjoys a prime location for visiting the many varied sites of Normandy. There are many local markets offering fresh produce nearby, as well as beautiful historic stone dwellings, well worth visiting. Bayeux is only 25km away, Caen just 56km, and Paris 2 hours by train. Omaha beach (12km) is the closest coastal location for swimming and water sports, and there are many other good sandy beaches. There is an 18 hole golf course 25km away overlooking the sea at Port-en-Bessin. There is such an array of places to visit, from the landing beaches to the Bayeux tapestries, Mont St Michel and the towns of Deauville and Honfleur, that the owner can arrange sightseeing trips with a very good local English-speaking guide (extra charge payable locally).

 

Exterior

The property consists of various buildings around a central courtyard; three separate Guest Houses face the Main House and one Guest House is located by the pool. Another outbuilding has been converted into a sports/games room. The property lies in a quiet and isolated position in 5 hectares of land with wide open views of the surrounding countryside. It boasts gardens landscaped in the styles of the Italian Renaissance and the English Romantic. The swimming pool is flanked on two sides by attractive covered terraces and it is heated to 25° C free of charge; there is a charge of £200 per week for each two additional degrees required; this is payable via the Security Deposit. There is a large pond (unfenced) at one end of the grounds and a stream running through the property.
 

Interior

This renovated farmhouse has a smart and bright interior, with wooden floors and original beams. On the ground floor of the Main House are an entrance, an attractive living room with a fireplace with a dining area seating 8, and a room the length of the building consisting of a sitting area with a fireplace and a grill at one end opening onto a terrace and the grounds, a dining room with a 5 metre long walnut table at the centre (seats 20), and a professionally-equipped kitchen at the other end. Also on the ground floor are a utility/laundry room and a separate wc.

On the first floor are a dormitory with four wrought-iron single beds and a small single bedroom which share a bathroom with a wc, a library/TV room, and a shower room with a wc. The original central wooden staircase leads up to the second floor, a huge open-plan area containing to one side a sitting room and to the other a double bedroom with a luxurious teak en suite bathroom with a jacuzzi, a separate shower and a wc.

Two of the Guest Houses consist of a double bedroom with an en suite shower room with a wc. The third is a double bedroom with and en suite bathroom with a wc and a mezzanine with a double bed. The fourth (by the pool) consists of a large room with a double bed at one end and a sitting area with a kitchen corner at the other, an en suite shower room with a wc, and a mezzanine with a double bed.

Maximum occupancy is limited to 18 persons including at least 3 children.
