Dominique says... |
 |
 |
|
The owner is a keen landscape gardener – he’s done a beautiful job with the exterior and his wife has decorated the interior with much taste and flair. Make the most of the markets in the pretty medieval villages in the area and make at least one visit to one of the best restaurants in the area, in Issigeac. |

Location |
| The Château de Foussal, restored in the early 19th century, occupies a secluded position 3km from the lovely village of Issigeac (all shops and tennis courts) on the edge of the River Banège. The famous vineyards of Monbazillac (15km) and the delightful market town of Bergerac (22km to the northwest) are well worth exploring. There are an 18 hole golf course golf course at Monestier (29km), a 9 hole golf course at Mouleydier (19km) and horse-riding at 2.5km at Plaisance. |
| |
Exterior |
| The château enjoys a very pastoral setting in extensive and beautifully landscaped parkland with 100 year old Lebanese cedar trees, flowering shrubs, a lake (fenced-off) for fishing and streams. Access to the swimming pool is via a wooden bridge crossing over a stream. There are a shower and a wc by the pool. The original spacious "orangerie" (external access only) has just been restored and converted into a comfortable games room with a sitting area with TV and board games, and table tennis. There is a small enclosed playground with swings, a slide and a sandpit. Two donkeys are kept in an enclosure in the grounds. |
| |
Interior |
The living and dining rooms are comfortably furnished and beautifully decorated in a tasteful mixture of modern style and antiques. There are wonderful frescoes in the dining room. The large kitchen has a dining table and is well equipped. A cloakroom with a washbasin and a wc are also on the ground floor. A twin bedroom with an en suite bathroom with a wc, a double bedroom with an en suite shower room, a bedroom with a doubled bed and a single bed, and a shower room with a wc are on the first floor. On the second floor are a twin bedroom and a bedroom with a double bed and a small single bed, each with an en suite bathroom with a wc.
Part of the property is closed off to clients (see floor plan) and is not occupied at any time.
