Location

Perched on a hilltop, this charming twin-towered 18th century périgourdine manor house is set in the heart of the Bessède Forest with panoramic views of the Couze Valley. Monpazier, a perfectly preserved medieval village, is 11km away and has a wide variety of shops and services. The smaller charming bastide towns of Cadouin and Belvès (both 9km away and steeped in history) have basic shops and supermarkets. The delightful village of St-Avit-Sénieur (13km) with its beautiful 11th century Benedictine abbey is a short drive away and there are many other medieval bastide towns in this wine-tasting region of the Dordogne. There are tennis courts at Belvès, horse riding and bicycle hire are available 10km away at Alles (15km) and Monpazier. Swimming, fishing and canoeing are possible in the Dordogne River at Le Buisson-de-Cadouin (14km).

Exterior

The property enjoys a tranquil setting in extensive grounds including woodland and a large lake (300m from the house, unfenced), ideal for those seeking a peaceful location. A pleasant terrace off the kitchen leads to the swimming pool surrounded by sunny lawns.

Interior

The interior has been restored to a very high standard; exposed beams and rustic furnishings create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The accommodation is laid out on three floors. On the ground floor are the kitchen which is well equipped with modern appliances and a dining table, and the spacious living area with a large open fireplace and tiled flooring. Also on the ground floor are a double bedroom with an en suite bathroom and a separate wc. On the first floor are a double bedroom with an en suite shower room with a wc, two twin bedrooms, and a bathroom with a separate shower, and a separate wc. The second floor is a converted attic space containing three single beds, 1 double sofabed and 1 child's bed.
