Location

This stunning 16th century périgourdine Chartreuse was originally a Templars' lodge and is set in a large park commanding beautiful views of the lovely little medieval village of Liorac-sur-Louyre (restaurant/café which sells bread and newspapers) and the valley of the River Louyre. This is a beautiful part of the Dordogne with easy access to lively villages with weekly markets and a selection of shops (St-Georges-de-Montclar 5km, Mouleydier 7km: Thursday market). There are daily flights from London Stansted to Bergerac (19km, Wednesday and Saturday markets).

The River Dordogne at Mouleydier offers all kinds of water sports and swimming. Horse riding is possible at St-Sauveur (7km), bicycle hire at Bergerac, and public tennis courts at Mouleydier. There is a 9 hole golf course 8km away and an 18 hole course at Monestier (34km). Clients can use the 9 hole golf course free of charge and hire clubs from the owner.

Exterior

The salt-water swimming pool is quite exceptional; in the shape of a cross, practically two pools in one, with roman steps on two sides. The pool is set in a large paved area next to a spacious covered terrace with a well equipped outdoor kitchen (hob, barbecue, fridge, sink) - a wonderful space for outdoor meals. There is also a shower and a wc by the pool.

The weekly charge for heating the pool varies according to the temperature required and the time of year, as follows:
April/May/September/October: 24° 650 €; 26° 700 €; 28° 800 €
June/July/August: 24° 350 €; 26° 380 €; 28° 400 €; 30° 440 €

Interior

Both the exterior and interior have been totally renovated to a very high standard and restored with exceptional taste and attention to detail. The living room, dining room and the small kitchen are located in the north wing and open onto an enclosed courtyard and shady garden at the back of the house. The rest of the ground floor in the main building consists of two double bedrooms, each with an en suite bathroom and a separate wc. There is also a separate wc on the ground floor. On the first floor are two double bedrooms and two bedrooms each with a double bed and a single bed; each bedroom has an suite shower room with a separate wc.
