Location

This splendid 18th century château has been beautifully restored and enjoys a magical position on the bank of the Dordogne River, opposite the village of Lamothe-Montravel (300m) with basic shops and the Château de Montaigne. There are a grocer's shop and a restaurant at Flaujagues. Castillon-la-Bataille (7km) offers all shops and services, a Monday market, horse riding, canoeing, and a seasonal "son et lumières" show of the battle of Castillon. The lovely village of St-Emilion with its famous vineyards is just 13km away. Bergerac is 43km to the east and Bordeaux 56km to the west. There are good restaurants within a short drive, and a market at Ste-Foy-la-Grande on Saturdays (20km).

Exterior

Set in one hectare of attractive grounds, the property boasts beautiful open views of the river and the village of Lamothe-Montravel on the opposite shore. The River Dordogne is 50m away from the house. The swimming pool is set to one side of the house with views towards the river and next to a summer kitchen. It is heated to 28°C free of charge, weather permitting.

In the summer the water level of the river recedes and uncovers a small beach for swimming. The owners provide a small rowing boat for trips along the Dordogne, as well as for fishing and visits to the village, and it is a wonderful setting for bird lovers with ducks and swans swimming along the river.

Interior

The spacious interior is quite stunning, with very light and comfortable rooms. There are many antiques and period furniture which create a very elegant atmosphere. On the ground floor are a large living room, a dining room, large kitchen with a dining area, a double bedroom, a bathroom with a separate shower unit and a wc, and a separate wc.

On the first floor are two double bedrooms, one twin bedroom and a shower with a wc. An additional bed is available on request. All the bedrooms are very spacious and pleasantly furnished. There is a sitting room with board games, and a games room containing a large selection of children's toys, games, table tennis and a small french billiards.

The owner occasionally and discreetly occupies a wing of the house.
