It was hard to resist this charming little house with fantastic views and a large garden in one of the most beautiful places in France. It may not have a pool but there's plenty to do and see nearby. |

Location |
This charming 17th century cottage is a peaceful retreat in a picturesque and medieval hilltop fortified setting. Turenne is perfectly preserved and is officially listed as both "one of the most beautiful villages in France" and as a "classified village"; it has a small supermarket, a café, a crêperie and two restaurants. There are tennis courts and Tuesday and Friday markets in Meyssac (10km).
Brive-la-Gaillarde (15km) is an attractive picturesque town with an old quarter dating back to the 12th century, a market on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and all shops and services. The stunning village of Collonges-la-Rouge is just 8km away, the "city of little castles", built entirely in red sandstone. The beautiful clifftop village of Rocamadour (33km), the extraordinary Gouffre de Padirac (19km) and the prehistoric park at Lacave (33km) are well worth visiting.
Canoes and kayaks are available for rental in the village of Gluges (22km) and at Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne (29km) for trips on the Dordogne River. Horse riding is possible at Chauffour-sur-Vell (12km) and at La Chapelle-aux-Brocs (17km). Swimming, fishing and pedaloes are available at the Lac du Causse (16km). Fishing is possible in the Etang de Turenne at the bottom of the village. There are 9 and 18 hole golf courses 22km away as well as an 18 hole course at Brive. |
