A truly exceptional place with very attentive owners who will greet you but live in Paris. They have put their heart and soul into restoring the château with an eye for every detail. A famous war treaty was signed here and you can write your postcards at the desk where it happened. |

Location |
An enchanting château of great charm and authenticity, this is a listed 17th century monument which has remained in the same family for the past 300 years. The surrender of Cherbourg between General Collins and General von Schlieben, also known as the "Servigny Treaty" was signed on 26 June 1944 in the halls of the château. It is located at the heart of the Cotentin region, close to sandy beaches, notably at Quinéville to the east (17km) and at Carteret to the west (25km). Cherbourg is just 22km to the north and you can easily reach Bayeux (65km) via the motorway 2.5km away.
Valognes is the closest village (4km) to offer all shops and services, and a railway station that will take you to Paris direct. It boasts two museums, many "hôtels particuliers" (of which two can be visited), and a music festival in August. The landing beaches are close by (20 minutes' drive), as well as the war museum at Ste-Mère-l'Eglise (15km). There is a public tennis court at Yvetôt-Bocage (600m), a 9 hole golf course at Quinéville (15km) and an 18 hole golf course at Agon-Coutainville (60km). Horse riding is possible at Brix (8km). |

Exterior |
With origins dating back to the Gallo-Roman period, this estate is the result of centuries of construction and modification with an overall 17th century touch. It is set in a huge park of 6 hectares concealing numerous "follies", and featuring a chapel, a small scale 19th century manor house (child size), a covered games room, swings and a sandpit. The park is surrounded by cultivated fields and apple groves belonging to the property. A stream runs through the grounds. The swimming pool is set in a spacious enclosed garden with a pool house with a shower and a wc. It is heated to 24°C free of charge. There is a charge of 500 Euros per week to obtain a higher temperature; this is payable locally.
There is a games room in an outbuilding with two billiard tables (one for adults, one for children), table tennis and table football.
A private tennis court will be available in June 2008.
The gardener (and his friendly dog) live on the grounds. The owners occasionally occupy a wing of the château without impinging on clients' privacy. |

Interior |
The interior is beautifully furnished with period pieces and antiques in keeping with the style of the building. The owner, an architect, has designed some of the furnishings. On the ground floor are a large well-equipped kitchen, a spacious dining room (seats up to 24 persons), a sitting room and two separate wcs.
On the first floor are a living room with elegant Louis XVI wood panelling, a music room, a library, the master double bedroom with an en suite bathroom and a wc, and a separate wc. All the other bedrooms and bathrooms are on the second floor. |
