Location

This typical Basque style house enjoys a wonderful location close to many sandy beaches and equidistant (10km) from the elegant town of Biarritz with its beautiful turn-of-the-century architecture and fantastic shopping, and Bayonne, famous for its ham and 5-day and night summer fête (running of the bulls, corridas, concerts) with a beautiful old quarter. The closest basic shops and restaurants are in the lovely typical village of Arcangues (4km), as well as horse riding. The charming seaside resort of St-Jean-de-Luz (20km) with its stunning cathedral and pedestrian area is well worth a visit, and San Sebastian in Spain is 50km away.

Bike hire is possible in Biarritz, there are tennis courts in Bassussary (6km), and there are several golf courses within a 12km range. There are many beautiful surfing beaches, with surfing schools offering short courses. The summer offers many fêtes with various regional spectacles and concerts.

Exterior

Part of the house dates back to 1750. It is set at the centre of a large enclosed lawned garden (4000sqm) with beautiful views towards the Rhune mountains and the Pyrénées. There is a pleasant terrace for outdoor meals. The swimming pool is heated up to 28°C free of charge, weather permitting. A discreet caretaker occupies an apartment above the garage (it has a separate entrance). A small road with light traffic runs by the front of the house.

Interior

The interior has been completely renovated and is well furnished in a warm welcoming style. On the ground floor are a large living/dining room, a study, and a kitchen with a table. On the first floor are one double bedroom, two twin bedrooms, one of which has an en suite shower room with wc, a bedroom with three single beds, two shower rooms and two separate wcs.
