Location

This beautiful 19th century manor house is located at the heart of the "Bocage Vendéen", an attractive area of peaceful undulating countryside interspersed with small woods, 24km from La Roche-sur-Yon. At St-Martin-des-Noyers (2km) there are basic shops, a small supermarket, two cafés, a food market on Thursdays and an oyster market (when in season) on Saturdays. All shops and services, a supermarket, markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays, horse riding, tennis courts and fishing can be found in the pretty village of Les Essarts (8km) as well as summer entertainment and exhibitions in its château. There are many restaurants within a short drive of the house.
 
The spectacular medieval theme park of at Puy du Fou is 35km away, and a must with or without children. There are many attractive villages nearby, an 18 hole golf course at Nesmy (30km), a leisure lake for swimming and fishing at Mesnard-la-Barotière (13km) and canoeing and water sports are possible in the Yon Valley near La Roche-sur-Yon. Beautiful boat trips can be taken on the Venise Verte, a series of small rivers meandering in southern Vendée - one of the starting points is the pretty vilage of Maillezais (60km). The Atlantic Coast offers a good selection of sandy beaches just 60km away.

Exterior

The grounds are extensive with orchard trees, a pond, fields, centenary trees, and a lawned area surrounded by trees at the front of the house. The swimming pool has been built to measure to integrate just under a spacious terrace (reached by a few steps) extending from the ground floor. There is a pool house with a shower and a wc, and a summer kitchen (with barbecue, refrigerator, cooker) with a dining area. The pool is heated to 25°C free of charge, weather permitting. It is fenced-off from the garden area but not from the terrace (access from sitting room).

There is a high quality tennis court (medium to fast, quick-drying hard court) and a putting green, both located just beyond the pool and pool house. Walks can be taken from the property. The owner provides 8 adult and 4 children's bikes; the countryside with its gentle slopes is ideal for cycling.

The owner has made arrangements for an experienced teacher to be available to give riding lessons to our clients on site. Hourly lessons and fully-fledged courses are totally flexible. There are ponies and horses available, for both adults and children.

The housekeeper can supply fresh vegetables from the garden.

Interior

The interior has been renovated and decorated to a very high standard in a pleasing mixture of styles. Each bedroom has an attractive style of its own and all the furnishings are of top quality. As you enter the house up a few steps, on the left are a music room (with a small grand piano) and a sitting room with access to a terrace overlooking the pool area, and to the right a separate dining room, a traditional kitchen opening onto a dining area and a separate wc.
 
On the first floor are a Louis XV bedroom with a four-poster double bed and and en suite shower room and a wc, a spacious twin bedroom with an en suite shower room with a wc (which also opens onto the landing), and an Empire style double bedroom with an en suite bathroom with a wc. The second floor is an impressive attic conversion with a beautiful bedroom with a four-poster double bed, a spacious bedroom with two four-poster single beds, and a smaller twin bedroom more suitable for children, and a bathroom with a wc. The bedrooms on the second floor each have a washbasin.
 
Occupancy is limited to 12 persons and 2 infants.
