This beautifully-converted 19^th century farmhouse is very typical of the area and located at the heart of the Bocage Vendéen, an interesting area of attractive marshland with much wildlife to discover. There are a bakery and a small shop at Jaudonnière (3km) and more shops and facilities in Chantonnay (8km) as well as a Tuesday market and tennis courts. A leisure lake of Rochereau (5km) offers fishing, sailing and canoeing. Horse riding is available 7km away. at Le Tallud-Sainte-Gemme. Bikes can be hired at Les Herbiers (40km) and Vouvant (30km), both pretty places worth visiting. There are beautiful sandy beaches all along the Atlantic coast with the closest at La Tranche-sur-Mer (60km). The great medieval theme park at Puy du Fou is 35km away, and a wonderful day can be spent rowing along the canals of the Marais Poitevin 35km and picnicking along its shores.

The property is set in 6500sqm of peaceful grounds, of which 2000sqm are landscaped. A small river (excellent for fishing) runs alongside the property so care must be taken with young children; however, the area around the house and pool are quite secure. Alongside the lovely swimming pool is a boules court and also a pool-side shower. There are marked walks and cycling routes just outside the property.

 

There is a charge of between 100 € and 150 €  per week for the pool to be heated in April, May and October; this is payable locally.

For fishermen, there are two small rooms for cleaning and preparing the day's catch, and for storing equipment.

The interior space has been carefully thought out to provide space, comfort and light. The living room opens out onto the terrace and swimming pool area, and the dining room leads to a well-equipped kitchen. On the ground floor there are also a sitting room, a fitness room with a sauna and a shower, a double bedroom with an en suite bathroom, and a separate wc. There is another terrace off the sitting room. 

 

There are two staircases leading to two separate sections of the first floor. One consists of a double bedroom with an en suite bathroom, a twin bedroom and a separate wc. The other consists of a twin bedroom with an en suite shower room and a separate wc.
