This exceptional house cannot be compared to any other due to its unique style and wonderful location in the charming town of Saumur, the jewel of the Loire Valley. The house is within walking distance of cafés, many good restaurants, shops, bakeries, a cinema and a market four times a week. Some of the most famous Loire Valley châteaux are close by: Azay-le-Rideau (70km), Villandry (58km), Langeais (43km), Chinon (34km), Montsoreau (14km). There are also some less well-known sites nearby well worth visiting: the rose garden at Doué-la-Fontaine (17km), Fontevraud-l'Abbaye (18km), the tank museum at Saumur.

Ballooning is possible at Gennes (18km); this is a fantastic way of discovering the Loire Valley. There is horse riding in Saumur as well as lake swimming, and sailing and tennis courts at Bagneux (1.5km), a 9 hole golf course at St-Hilaire-St-Florent (4km), and an 18 hole course at Roiffé (26km).

Various activities can be organised on site: French lessons, cooking classes, wine tours, reflexology, facials (prices on request).

The location in the old part of Saumur is residential and peaceful. The house is set away from the street. Automatic gates open onto a garden of white flowers, herbs and vegetables within an attractive enclosed courtyard of 700sqm. The private pool is heated to 28°C free of charge and has power jets. The swimming pool area is sunny from 11:30 to 17:30 throughout the summer. There is an outdoor shower.

The interior tastefully combines 19th century charm, modern facilities and comfortable furnishings. The ground floor is a spacious open plan room which incorporates two dining areas: a breakfast table at one end and two dining tables at the other, with a very well-equipped kitchen at the centre (professional La Canche stove, one of only seven made worldwide, and every appliance and gadget imaginable); there are also two sitting areas in this open-plan space, and a separate wc. There is an indoor and outdoor music system.

One staircase leads from the breakfast area to a large living room with two fireplaces and a baby grand piano on the first floor. The staircase continues up to the second floor where there are two double bedrooms (one with a flat screen TV and computer) which share a shower room with a wc; a room with fitness equipment leads directly off one of the bedrooms. There is a second staircase leading from the dinihg area of the ground floor to the first floor another wing of the house straight into the master bedroom which has a seating area, a flat-screen TV and a safe. This bedroom also has an en suite open-plan bathroom, a separate shower and a separate wc. The stairs continue up to the second floor where there is a sitting room (low beams) with two sofabeds (one double, one single), a flat-screen TV, DVD player, and a shower room with a steam room and a wc.

There is also a small guest house in the garden which consists of a daybed and a small kitchen corner at ground level as well as a separate wc, and a double bedroom on a mezzanine with a shower cubicle.

All the rooms are fitted with ceiling fans.

Smoking is not allowed in the house.

Occupancy is limited to 10 persons including children.
