Les Murets Les Murets
PR09
Sleeps 11
Gordes

Deborah Miller: Bob and I enjoyed an extraordinary week at Les Murets in March 2004. What an amazing place! Every detail, under the watchful care of Madame Chabert, was perfect. While my husband loved the tennis court, I thrived on the ambience, including the peaceful view from the patio.

Catherine Bennett: Each time we have been fortunate enough to stay in this beautifully decorated home, our experience in Provence has been quite different. Given its proximity to antiques, sights, markets, and culinary delights, Les Murets is an excellent base for exploring Provence. If you are in the mood for rest and relaxation, Les Murets also provides a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle complete with breathtaking views, pool, and tennis courts. And, if you want to explore just a bit, try the hike to Gordes, walk to the village for croissants, or wander around the extensive property which contains its very own bories. The owners have thought of every detail to ensure your comfort and convenience, and the delightful caretaker of the property makes it her goal to ensure that your needs are met. As you can see, we can't think of a vacation we've ever enjoyed more and hope to return.

Marty Carter: A visit to Les Murets is paradise. The house is styled and decorated with lovely antiques and accoutrements of a manor house while offering cozy warmth and charm. The kitchen for me becomes the centerpiece of gathering with family and friends cooking a gourmet delight after strolling the markets for deliciously fresh foods. The chicken eggs were so fresh I yearned to take the chicken bank to the States, but Customs said no. Les Murets is conveniently situated in one of the most beautiful areas of Provence. The area surrounding Gordes offers many "sight-seeing" opportunities. After being in Provence a number of times, it's refreshing to simply stay at Les Murets and enjoy all it has to offer. One of the highlights of my visits is making a new friend, Mme Chabert. She is more than a caretaker for she left food in the refrigerator, a fire laid, fresh flowers, etc. Mme Chabert is well-known in the community and provides any assistance needed.  I do not speak French, but that has never been a problem as she speaks in French and we pantomime, always ending in gales of laughter. Several friends have followed my suggestion of a holiday to Les Murets and ALL would give it 5 stars.

DHA: My wife and I spent two weeks at Les Murets in March 2004, accompanied by several guest friends. The house has every amenity needed for a wonderful vacation, and if not the always helpful Madame Chabert, the caretaker, and her husband are nearby to help. We appreciated her so much that we had to give her a parting present. Particularly helpful, the home's owners maintain a portfolio of restaurants reviewed by guests and - well read - nearby wineries are included! Because it was March, we didn't use the pool but the tennis court got daily use and the pétanque court was used once.

Peggy Schaller: I would like to express my great enthusiasm for Les Murets as a vacation spot, any time of the year. I have been to Les Murets several times and always the accommodations were spotless, the house prepared tastefully, with additional details that made me feel more welcome (bottle of wine, soap, house gift, etc) than in many other rental properities. Les Murets actually does not seem like a rental property, it seems like a HOME! The house is beautifully decorated, the garden, pool and tennis court welcoming with lounge chairs, and other amenities. It is an ideal spot for an ideal vacation. The caretaker, Mme Chabert, plays a big role in making what could be a wonderful place even better. She tirelessly welcomes, helps, advises and goes the proverbial extra mile with a smile and enthusiasm that must be fast becoming legendary. Her tip on doctors, wineries, tourist attractions, etc., are even better than local tourist guides. Even with almost non-existent English, it is not a problem because her warmth is contagious and makes her understandable. She is always present in a crisis, and takes care of everything. She is a wonderful asset to Les Murets. I would also like to mention the owners of Les Murets, they have always graciously welcomed me and other family and friends upon arrival, making sure that everything was in perfect order for our first day at Les Murets. That sort of personal touch exemplefies why Les Murets is a special place to be.

Dr. J Buchanan: We had a lovely holiday - the villa was ideal for our requirements - 6 adults, 2 babies - in a beautiful area. The caretaker Mme. Chambert was charming. Many thanks.

Mrs Tessa Warren: The caretaker was extremely helpful and very generous to the children. Lovely furnishings, comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen and beautiful views. We wouldn't have changed anything. Local information and suggested activities extremely useful. We're looking forward to returning with my parents and family in 2007!

Mr Robert Boyle: A truly fantastic villa.

Mrs Alison Redgrave: A fantastic and very well equipped house. Madame Chabert was very helpful and the catering was delicious and good value.

An article by Georgie Taylor, age 11, who stayed at Les Murets in August 2006

On Saturday 26th August 2006, we arrived at the beautiful Les Murets villa where we were going to spend a week on holiday.  When we awoke in the mornings we had a lazy start. And then when we were all up and dressed (and mum and dad had had a cup of tea) we walked/ran through the cypress trees, past the fig and olive trees to buy our bread from the boulangerie in Cabrières-d’Avignon.  Then we came back and had breakfast in front of the amazing view of the Luberon hills and mountains.

After breakfast a hard day ahead! We went down to the pool area and lay on the comfy sunloungers and relaxed enjoying the sun. Us children then enjoyed the lovely warm pool and played with the floats that had been left for us! The pool was great and we (me and my brother) had a few diving competitions which were very exciting, and ALL members of the family enjoyed it! After a lovely lunch in the hut by the pool we went out to various places, Avignon, Gordes, St-Rémy…or we just walked around the huge property of 3 hectares or played hide and seek (there were lots of great hiding places!). At about 5:30pm we would put on our trainers and play a very competitive game of tennis. Then we would have dinner, mum and dad would open their Chablis (local vineyards abound!) and whether we went out to a restaurant or stayed in it was a feast! After dinner we would have a game of Boules which had also been left for us. Then later on we would go to sleep in one of the 11 comfy beds.

I really, really enjoyed our holiday and I hope we will go back there. The best part was the pool and the takeaway pizza we had one night.
