A WEEK IN BRANTOME
Have you ever been to France before? If so, I bet you loved it. If not, you should start packing your bags and get on a ferry or an airplane as soon as possible because France is awesome.
I am thirteen years old and I have two brothers who are twelve and ten. My family and I all stayed in the Dordogne region in a beautiful renovated farm house called La Borderie de la Cole in a little town called Roc where the baker visited the neighbourhood once every other morning with fresh baked bread. That bread is the best bread I have ever tasted.
The food in France is a wonderful reason to go to France. As an American, I am used to different foods than those we found in France. Some of the dishes my family found very interesting were the escargots (snails) and foie gras (goose liver). I think that the best thing to eat in France is crêpes. Crêpes come with every flavor filling you could think of including; chocolate, lemon, hazelnut, nutella, honey, sugar, caramel, just about every kind of fruit, and many more. We also got dinner crêpes that included things like cheese and meat.
My family and I visited many cool places such as the Musée de la Truffe. There, we learned about how expensive and rare this famous wild delicacy is. The Grottes de Villars were a lot of fun because we got to see famous paintings made by the cavemen. At Rocamadour we saw a huge shrine for Christian pilgrims. At Bourdeilles my brothers and I played in a gigantic thirteenth century castle.
And last but certainly not least was the house that we rented. Our house, called La Borderie de le Cole, had a swimming pool, a huge backyard, a river at the back of the property, many different fun indoor and outdoor games like boules, fun board games, ping pong, badminton, and my mom loved the huge fancy kitchen. As you can see the whole family can have a fun time in France and get a great house to stay at.
