British back Nîmes airport

Nîmes airport, particularly convenient for renters of Dominique's Villas in the southeast and mid-southwest of France, will continue to enjoy direct flights from the UK throughout 2006. The airport had been threatened with closure because its principal operator, Air France, said to be losing nearly £2M a year on this particular route, decided to withdraw its schedulted services. New number plates
 A national competerised register of cars that will be able to match vehicles using a part of the number plate, colour and make, is to be introduced in France in 2008. French Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy, making the announcement, stated it would help the battle against crime. Find out more >>
Ryanair expands Ryanair expects to commence services on a new route from Stansted to Toulon in the south of France from October 2005. It also plans to operate additional flights to Bergerac and Carcassonne from Liverpool, starting in February 2006.
No mobiles
France operates a total ban on the use of a mobile phone while driving, even if it is hands-free. Clinical evidence from Australia recently published in England and France supports the logic of this complete ban, showing that the use of a hands-free instrument is just as likely to result in an accident as the use of an ordinary mobile telephone. Statistics in the report show that using a mobile increases by fourfold the risk that you become involved in an accident that causes serious injuries.
