The Cave de Cairanne, in the Côtes du Rhône Villages, has created The Path of the Senses, a clever marketing idea to show how wine appeals to us in many different ways. In Touch, visitors learn to discriminate between textures, from silky to rough, each evocative of various types of wine. Sight shows a spectrum of colours depicting the variations of grapes and their vines. Smell invites you to identify and compare a range of aromas. Hearing combines the sounds of the countryside with those of the wine cave, including the drawing of corks and the clink of glasses.
The visitor, fully equipped with his or her new knowledge, finally reaches Taste and learns, with much swigging of full measures, how to find the perfect match between wines and foods.
