Cyclists get the hump
The Luberon’s new leisure centre at Villars includes a new cycle track for enthusiasts, with humps and ridges that allow experts to perform acrobatics and novices to perfect their skills. The first of its kind in France, the track was designed by Christian Taillefer, holder of the 1998 record for downhill speed riding on snow at over 212kph, and six times national downhill and cross-country champion. Built on the site of a former quarry, the Villars leisure centre has a large number of cycles for hire, so there is no need to bring your own bike. Admission is free and the centre opens at weekends out of season and every day in summer.
