Annual International Jazz Festival
From 12 to 22 July 2006
Jazz at Juan is in its 46th year, a glittering festival where some of the greatest performers in jazz appear in a romantic venue beneath the pine trees.
Stéphane Grapelli played at the first festival in 1960 when he was almost unknown and never looked back, while until Charlie Mingus appeared at the festival his talent was almost unrecognised outside jazz afficionados. Ray Charles and Miles Davis made their first appearances in Europe at the festival. Other stars to take part include Ella Fitzgerald and John Cochrane, and more recently George Benson, Keith Jarrett, Marcus Miller and Joe Cocker. This year look out for Keith Jarrett and Ahmad Jamal, and a return visit by BB King.

The whole of Antibes is en fete for the duration of the festival, with many free gifts on offer in various squares, while a marching jazz band weaves its way around the streets.

Concerts take place in the Pinède Gould, named after the American playboy, Jay Gould, who first put Juan-les-Pins on the map.
