Built in a provençal style, this elegant villa is situated in a very exclusive and peaceful residential area of Vence. A full range of shops and services can be found in Vence (2.5km) where there are also public tennis courts and bicycle hire.
Close by (6km) is the exclusive and spectacular village of St-Paul-de-Vence where many famous artists (Matisse, Soutine, Chagall, Renoir, Signac, Modigliani, Dufy), writers and poets (Gide, Giono, Cocteau, Prévert) took up residence in the 20s, followed by film directors and scriptwriters (Clouzot, Cayatte, Audiard) and actors (Yves Montand, Lino Ventura, Simone Signoret, Romy Schneider, Roger Moore, Tony Curtis). The café-restaurant 'La Colombe d'Or' is still a celebrity landmark in the village. In the 60s the Fondation Maeght was inaugurated by André Malraux; it was the joint creation of Aimé and Marguerite Maeght and artists including Giacometti, Chagall, Miró and Calder.
Horse riding is possible at Col de Vence (6km) and golf courses at Valbonne and Mougins (12km). The nearest beach is at Cagnes-sur-Mer, 8.5km away. Vence is an interesting town with an old cathedral, part of which dates back to Roman times, and a chapel decorated by the world famous artist, Matisse.
