Gourmet meals with a Bon Vivant

12 Dec 2014 BY Tim Wells

Bon Vivant is the gourmet travelling chef service specializing in the delightful cuisine of southwestern France, with all of everyone’s local culinary favourites prepared on site at your Dominique’s Villas holiday villa or château, and served up with all the style and flair you desire. Duck à l’Armagnac et aux pruneaux, tournedos Rossini, confit de canard, foie gras, cuisses de grenouille, magret de canard, truffles, and many other perennial favourites will grace your table, which Bon Vivant will prepare with white linen tablecloths, flowers, table decorations, champagne buckets, and candelabras if so wished. The menu planning, shopping, all the preparation and service, and the cleaning up are all part of the packages offered. Only wine and apéritifs are left to the clients’ own selection and provenance.

Bon Vivant offers a selection of three delicious menus on their website: le Menu de l’Automne, le Menu Forestier, and le Menu de Fête, each offering a special selection of local gourmet delights. These menus can of course be adjusted and altered at the clients’ wish. A glorious selection of local canapés can also be presented, including escargots in garlic butter, vol-au-vent, quails’ eggs, and mushrooms stuffed with foie gras. Many of the ingredients are home-produced, including free-range eggs and organic vegetables from their garden. Vegetarian, gluten-free, or dairy-free menus can also be offered.

Gourmet picnics can also be a high point of your holiday, prepared in the garden or at the poolside at your Dominique’s Villas house or château, with the usual delightful Quercy specialities, and drinks specially prepared and served. The style can be anything from classical rustic simplicity to refined, with the full table setup and decoration, and not forgetting the champagne. And a new service, added in 2014, is the “Serial Griller” gourmet barbecue service, with a mouth-watering selection of barbecue delights: crab cakes, Godfather burgers, prawn and scallop brochettes, lobster tails, grilled sardines, Quercy sausages, pork chops à l’ancienne, and the whole selection of chilled salads and dishes to beat the summer heat.

Bon Vivant provide bespoke catering throughout the Lot-et-Garonne, Haute Garonne, the Gers, and Tarn, and are available on a daily basis for that very special occasion, or on a weekly basis throughout your villa holiday. Prices begin from 50€ per person for a four-course meal including all services, plus canapés for 10-15€ per person depending on the chosen selection. Head chef and director is Fabrice Le Sourd, a graduate of L’Ecole de Hôtellerie in Reims, 1986, who has worked in Terence Conran’s Chop House and in Bibendum in London, L’Auberge des Arbousiers near Narbonne, as well as gourmet establishments in Greece and the Caribbean. He and Angela, who is Scottish, will be happy to discuss your dream culinary event, and make it happen with gusto.
