Location |
A handsome manor house built in the 1880s, this beautifully-appointed property is located a five minute walk (approximately 300m) from the shops, services, cafés and twice weekly market (Saturdays and Thursdays) of the village of Châteauneuf-sur-Charente on the opposite side of the River Charente. The river offers waterskiing and a sandy beach for swimming in the village (both a short walk away), as well as very good fishing. There are good restaurants in the nearby villages of Bourg-Charente (16km) and St-Même-les-Carrières (9.5km). The beautiful town of Angoulême is just 25km away - it is noted for its stunning cathedral, museums and festivals all year round. Cognac is also close by (26km). The area offers a rich selection of Romanesque churches tucked away in picturesque villages. Popular Futuroscope is 90 minutes away.
The sandy beaches of Royan (93km) and St-Georges-de-Didonne (96km) are about an hour and a half's drive away. There are tennis courts 1.5km from the house, horse riding at Roullet-Saint-Estèphe (12km), bike hire at Jarnac (16km) and canoeing at Vibrac (6km), as well as 18 hole golf courses in Angoûleme and Cognac. |

Exterior |
The property enjoys peaceful surroundings in an enclosed garden of 1700sqm offering lots of activities for children on site and a well-protected pool which is heated to 26°C free of charge, weather permitting.There is a changing area with fitness equipment by the pool with a shower and a wc. The river runs along the front of the property across a small access road which ends 20 metres away at the water-skiing area. The river bank is exclusive to the property but you cannot swim from here (only in the village). |

Interior |
The interior is very well appointed with elegant and quality furnishings. On the ground floor are an attractive living room, a comfortable sitting room and a large kitchen/dining room opening onto a covered terrace, ideal for outdoor meals; there is also a separate wc on this floor. On the first floor are two double bedrooms, one with an en suite bathroom with a wc, as well as a twin bedroom (for children) and a shower room with a wc. On the second floor are two double bedrooms (one is quite small and each has a washbasin), a large bedroom with a double bed and two single fold-out mattresses, a bathroom and a separate wc.
There is a moveable air-conditioning unit.
Occupancy is limited to 12 persons. |
