Getting There
Flights to France
The proliferation of air routes and carriers means that six or seven airlines fly from either London – Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton or Stansted - or from one or more of a large number of regional airports, to more than a dozen different French towns and cities. Almost every part of France can be reached direct from the UK. French airports offer a significant choice of car rental facilities and have excellent motorway links, leaving you within easy reach of your final destination.
The four principal carriers to France remain British Airways, Air France, Easyjet and Ryan Air, with BMI strongest on many regional routes out of the UK. Once the convenience of particular departure times is taken into consideration, no single airline offers significantly better value for money that its rivals. Competition on the most popular routes tends to keep prices down but the way to secure cheap tickets is to book early. Almost every airline offers a very limited number of seats at attractive rates as part of its marketing strategy but in practice most passengers are insufficiently alert or organised to take advantage of these offers.
The closer you move towards the departure date, the more you can expect to pay for your ticket. Booking your villa early and making your travel arrangements at the same time can save you, quite literally, hundreds and sometimes even thousands of pounds.
