Location |
Recently restored in a modern style, this small attractive villa is located in the village of Marsilly, just 8km north of La Rochelle. The village has a bakery, a small supermarket, a café, a simple restaurant and a market on Fridays. An ostrich farm with a shop can be visited nearby. There are many good fish restaurants in La Rochelle and one closer to the village at L'Houmeau (7.5km), and oyster and mussel huts when in season. The closest supermarket is at Nieul-sur-Mer (4km).
The villa is named after the fishing huts ('carrelet')which are typical of this coast; they can be rented out by the day.
There is a small pebbly beach 2km away; the best sandy beaches are on the Île de Ré (15km) and at Châtelaillon-Plage (22km), south of La Rochelle. There are tennis courts 1.5km from Marsilly, horse riding at Villedoux (6.5km), and bike hire at La Rochelle (8km). There is a cycling track along the coast 2km away. The 18 hole golf course is 2km away and overlooks the sea. |

Exterior |
The house is set in a small enclosed garden of 800sqm. The front of the house is well shielded from the road by a 5 metre hedge. The road mainly only serves the village as there is also a small ring-road which lessens the traffic in the village. |

Interior |
The interior is simply furnished and brightly decorated with many nautical features. The open-plan living room with dining and kitchen areas open out onto a decked terrace which overlooks the garden and pool. There is also a shower room with a wc downstairs. On the first floor are a landing with a large window overlooking the garden, three double bedrooms, two of which have a double bed on a mezzanine (more suitable for younger persons), and a bathroom with a wc. |
