Location

In the heart of the Périgord Noir, noted for its prehistoric caves at Les Eyzies and the stunning village of Rocamadour, this attractive property dates back to the 12th and 15th centuries. It is situated 18km from the pleasant market town of Sarlat and 1km from the small village of Carlux where basic shopping is available (bakery, grocer). There is a larger selection of shops and services at Souillac (13km). Canoeing, fishing and other water sports are possible on the Dordogne River, 3km away. There is a golf course 17km away at Vitrac. Horse riding is possible on the grounds.

Exterior

The property is set in 37 acres of woodland and open ground. The large salt-water swimming pool does not require chemical treatment. It is bordered by a terrace which opens onto an expansive lawn. The caretakers occupy a small house at the entrance of the property and with separate access. There is a low wall at the back of the house with a two metre drop.

Interior

The interior is very impressive and comfortable, and decorated with French antique furnishings. The château is on three levels. On the ground floor are a spacious living/dining room, a newly fitted well-equipped kitchen, a sitting room, a shower room, and a separate wc. On the first floor are a sitting room, a double bedroom with an en suite bathroom with a separate shower unit, a separate wc and a double bedroom with an integrated shower. On the second floor there are four twin bedrooms (one with an en suite bathroom also accessible from a corridor and one with a wahsbasin), a double bedroom, a shower room and two separate wcs.
