What an idyllic setting! I love going back to this house just to inspect the beautifully-tended garden. It's just full of périgourdin charm and there's plenty do on site and in the villages nearby. |

Location |
| This exceptional 17th century périgourdine property is set at the top of a secluded hill 20km from the historic town of Périgueux and the Dordogne Valley. Vergt (2km) has good shops, services and restaurants, a recreational lake, tennis courts and horse riding. There is a wider selection of shops and good restaurants at Périgueux and Bergerac (30km). There is a 9 hole golf course at St-Félix-de-Reilhac (20km) and an 18 hole course at Marsac-sur-l'Isle (25km). |
| |
Exterior |
| The property stands in just over 6 acres of grounds among mature trees, shrubs and lawns with splendid views over the surrounding rolling countryside and woodland. A huge converted barn with a games area, a fridge and a wc leads to the swimming pool with an outside shower. A beautifully restored pigeonnier (dovecote), with a barbecue and a sink, serves as a covered dining area with idyllic views of the surrounding countryside. There is a small pond at the front of the house (30cm deep). |
| |
Interior |
The interior is decorated to a high standard and comfortably furnished throughout. Beamed ceilings, exposed stone walls and antiques enhance the original features of the interior of the Main House. The fully-equipped kitchen with a dining area opens to the front of the house with access to the barn and dovecote. A laundry room, a bathroom with a separate shower and a sauna (charge payable locally), and a separate wc are also on the ground floor.
A narrow 16th century staircase from the main entrance leads up to the first floor where there is a comfortable living room with an open fireplace, and a double bedroom with an integrated bathroom with a wc.
The second floor has two bedrooms each with one double bed and one single bed (and each with an air-conditioning unit) as well as a wc and a washbasin on the landing.
