Location |
This charming 18th century stone built house is located in a small quiet hamlet on the borders of the Corrèze and the Lot. In Vayrac (7km) there is a good selection of shops and services, restaurants, cafés, a market on Thursdays and Saturdays, tennis courts and bike hire. The stunning village of Collonges-la-Rouge is just 15km away, the "city of little castles", built entirely in red sandstone. There are two other picturesque villages nearby: Turenne (18km), perfectly preserved and officially listed as "one of the most beautiful villages in France", and fortified Curemonte (3.5km) with three châteaux. The small town of Souillac (33km) offers all shops and services, a jazz festival in July, a Friday market and a beautiful 12th century abbey. Brive-la-Gaillarde (41km) is an attractive town with an old quarter dating back to the 12th century, markets on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and all shops and services. The beautiful clifftop village of Rocamadour (33km), the extraordinary Gouffre de Padirac (19km) and the prehistoric park at Lacave (33km) are well worth visiting.
There is a Friday market in Meyssac (13km). Canoes and kayaks are available for rental in the village of Gluges (17km) and at Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne (11km) for trips on the Dordogne River. Horse riding is possible at Chauffour-sur-Vell (13km) and at La Chapelle-aux-Brocs (26km). Swimming, fishing and pedaloes are available at the Lac du Causse (47km). There is an 18 hole golf course 22km away at St-Jean-Lespinasse as well as a 9 and 18 hole course at Aubazine (28km).

Exterior |
The house enjoys a large garden which backs onto walnut groves. A swimming pool is planned for the 2009 season. |

Interior |
The comfortable spacious interior has been restored to a good standard and combines antique, rustic and modern stylish furnishings. An attractive staircase separates the open plan living area from the well-equipped kitchen, and enhances the exposed beams, stonework, oak floors and the beautiful cantou fireplace to create a warm inviting atmosphere. The living area opens onto the garden with a gravelled terrace and has a double sofabed. There is a shower room with a WC on the ground floor.
There are two double bedrooms on the first floor, one with a walk-in wardrobe, and a large bathroom with a wc. There are a twin bedroom and a single bedroom in the eaves on the top floor. All the bedrooms have magnificent panoramic views of rolling countryside. |
